The Tar Heels emerged victorious in an exciting battle with 18 different lead changes, posting an 81-77 win to advance to the national championship. Caleb Love led UNC with 28 points in 11 of 20 games, including multi-clutch bushings extended.
The Blue Devils' loss ended the career of famed coach Mike Krzyzewski, who in the K Duke era posted an overall record of 50-50 against North Carolina.
“They had a great game. I think both teams played the best they could," Kruzizewski told TBS Sports' Tracy Wolfson. "It was an emotional win. and emotional defeat. So it should be a game like this."
